Miniman

Real Name: Minor (?)

Identity/Class: Unknown

Occupation: Ventriloquist

Affiliations: Gildo (his dresser)

Enemies: Dr Tome

Known Relatives: None

Aliases: None

Base of Operations: Unknown

First Appearance: Fantastic Annual 1969

Powers/Abilities: As Minor, he is a skilled ventriloquist, and can also hypnotise even large crowds using only his voice. Upon transforming into Miniman he gains the powers of flight, telescopic vision and superhuman strength. He has a computer-like brain. He also employs a variety of gadgets, kept in his belt, such as a net of superstrong material, bolas of similar material, and a hand laser.

Apprehending Dr TomeHistory: Major and Minor was the world's greatest comic ventriloquist act, though not for the reasons most members of the audiences they play to might think. "The fact that Minor is the real ventriloquist and the tall Major is the dummy is a fantastic secret that no one in the audience has ever suspected".

"Gildo, Minor's dresser, is one of the few people who knew his master's secret" but "there is one secret that even Gildo does not know...that Minor has the power to transform himself into an astonishing figure, gifted with super powers...This perilous situation calls for Miniman!"

The tiny genius superman fights crime from his penthouse base, taking on villains such as Dr Tome and his deadly robots.

Comments: When Miniman transforms he goes from being Minor, wearing a blue tuxedo, to being Miniman, wearing a blue tuxedo with a red cape...in other words, he remains an extremely short man, NOT wearing any sort of mask, wearing the exact same clothes with the sole alteration being the addition of a cape. And yet somehow his dresser Gildo can't figure out his true identity? How thick is this guy? Was Gildo given lessons by Lois Lane in being blind to the blatantly obvious?

The picture of Mini Man from Pow AnnualWhile Miniman had his own one shot strip in Fantastic Annual 1969, there is mention of a character of the same name in Pow Annual 1971, in the Electro story. This Miniman only appears as a picture on the Head of the Super Security Bureau's wall (right). Given the superficial similarity in appearances and name, and given that both titles were part of the Power Comics group (and so may well have shared the same writer), I'm assuming this may well be meant to be the same character.

Thanks to Chris Adams, who informed me of the existence of this character and gave me my initial information about him.
