Urd

Real Name: Urd

Identity/Class: Goddess

Occupation: Goddess in the service of Yggdrasil system, deals with the past

Affiliations: Yggdrasil system (although she has been expelled a couple of times for unappropriate behavior), Morisato Keiichi, Belldandy, Skuld

Enemies: Mara (demon)

Known Relatives: Belldandy, Skuld (half-sisters)

Aliases: None

Base of Operations: Abandoned Buddhist temple in Tokyo.

First Appearance: Ah Megami-sama #2 (1988)

Powers/Abilities: Goddesses would have unlimited powers but for various factors; Yggdrasil has crashed in numerous occasions and has had to concentrate most of it's power to keep the universe together at various times. Keiichi created moonstone bracelets that lets the goddesses to use more of their powers but that is still of limited use.

Still, the goddesses have various abilities aside from their personal specialities and limitations (or possibly preferences) in teleport. They can speak with animals, tap into electronics (their magical language sometimes sounds like modem noise), use various items (that are, in effect, magical versions of quantum phenomena), split themselves into small multiple copies and create magical mandalas for greater power.

Urd is bit more careless in the use of her powers than Belldandy (in fact in such an extent that the Allmighty limited her capabilities himself to keep her in check). She can also teleport though only between TV screens.

Urd's main proficiency is various alchemical love potions and she considers herself (erroneously) as an expert of human heart. She has woven many plots to get Belldandy and Keiichi to eventually sleep together - a step apparently neither one of them is willing to take as of yet.

History: After her sister Belldandy got stuck on Earth, Urd, one of the other goddesses assigned to maintaining the universe-running Yggdrasil system, came to Earth to check on her. Deciding that her innocent sister needed a bit of pushing to move her blossoming relation with mortal charge Keiichi on a notch or two, Urd decided to covertly lend a helping hand. However her actions only managed to earn her a reprimand, and get her stuck on Earth too, as punishment for interfering.

Comments: Created by Fujishima Kousuke.

Urd is based on the Norn of the same name, one of the three Nordic fates. In mythology, Urd is the goddess in charge of the past, just as this Urd is in the manga.
