Comments: Created by Matthew Lewis. Thanks to Terry Hooper for informing me about this character. He tells me that it 'was called by one critic "a mass of murder, outrage, diablerie and indecenc"; there were attempts to ban the work as obscene but it created interest in horror fiction.'
