History: The S.S. Buoyant Queen was a small cargo steamer that was sailed around the British Isles by its hoplessly inept Captain Enoch Drip, whose navigation skills were nonexistent, and the equally useless Bosun Bert Bloop, trailing disaster in their wake.

Comments: Created by Ken Reid. The Buoyant Queen was the star of the comedy strip Queen of the Seas in Smash!, and was perhaps inspired by the Scottish comedy novels and sitcom Para Handy, which had a similar ship and unlucky crew enjoying various misadventures. The strip ran from Smash! #1 through 43.

Why is this given an entry on a site predominately concerned with superhero characters? Because the Queen of the Seas and her crew turn up in Albion #5 and 6, serving as the vessel that both brings would-be rescuers Penny Dolmann, Danny Doom, Robot Archie and Charles Peace to the superhuman prison in Scotland, and then carrying away many of the freed inmates.
