Maxwell Hawke's adventures ran in Buster until 3rd September 1966, during which time he investigated 29 mysteries. He also appeared in the 1961 through 1967 Buster Annuals, adding another six adventures to his tally. Modified reprints appeared in the Shiver and Shake Christmas Holiday Special 1973 and the Holiday Special 1974, with Maxwell becoming the goatee-sporting Stirling Steel (and Jill transforming even more radically into the male assistant Mark Tyme). Subsequent to this, at least one more modified reprint was published, this time with Maxwell redrawn to add a moustache and renamed Curtis Bronson, in the Buster Book of Spooky Stories 1975; Jill Adair became Niki Adams in this retelling.
