The Iron Warrior
Real
Name: Iron Warrior
Identity/Class: Robot
Occupation: Servant
Affiliations: Rodney Dearth (controller)
Enemies: Unknown.
Known Relatives: None
Aliases: None.
Base of Operations: Africa
First Appearance: Thrill Comics #1 (April 1940-45); New Funnies (1948)

Tall (around 12 foot or more) and strong, with a built-in axe in its right
hand.
History: A robot controlled by Rodney Dearth, who used it to hunt treasure with him in Africa.
Comments: The Iron Warrior is halfway between a robot and a powered armour suit - Dearth can ride inside it and control it, but it is also apparantly able to act without a pilot, summoned and ordered by remote control; in this sense it is a precursor to Japanese Mecha (or Marvel's Mecha-inspired Red Ronin). The Warrior isn't really a hero; while willing to make friends with natives he encounters, Dearth, a product of his times, has no qualms whatsoever about killing any who are less than friendly.
