Goscinny and Uderzo's Asterix Universe

The year is 50 BC. Gaul is entirely occupied by the Romans.

Well not entirely...

One small village of indomitable Gauls still holds out against the invading Romans. And life is not easy for the Roman legionaries who garrison the fortified camps of Totorum, Aquarium, Caudanum and Compendium.

Asterix the Gaul was the creation of Albert Uderzo and Rene Goscinny. The series began in the French magazine Pilote, before receiving world-wide recognition in a series of graphic albums translated into dozens of languages. Asterix is one of France's most successful comic series, and there is even a theme park (Parc Asterix) based around the character.
