Real Name: Fenchurch

Identity/Class: Normal human

Occupation: Unknown

Affiliations: Arthur Dent

Enemies: None

Known Relatives: None

Aliases: None

Base of Operations: Earth

First Appearance: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Powers/Abilities: Arthur taught Fenchurch how to fly, basically by falling and then forgetting to hit the ground. The thing about flying is not to realise that it is, in fact, impossible, or then gravity will suddenly notice you again and take exception to being ignored.

History: Fenchurch was a normal young woman who one day suddenly realised what everyone had been doing wrong all these millennia, and how we could have peace and prosperity and happy lives for everyone. Unfortunately before she had a chance to tell anyone about her revelation, the Vogons destroyed Earth to make space for a hyperspace highway.

Some time later the Earth and its people were reconstructed with no memories of their destruction. Fenchurch sadly couldn't remember her incredible idea, but when she ran into Arthur Dent, one of only two humans who hadn't been killed when the Earth was wiped out, he helped her try to discover what it was, and the two have been a couple ever since.

Comments: Played by Jane Horrocks in the radio adaptations.

Fenchurch only had a cameo in the original story, and it wasn't until later books, when the Earth was restored, that she came into her own.
