X-Men Evolution

If X-Men: The Animated Series resembles the mainstream Marvel Universe fairly closely, then X-Men Evolution is closer in spirit to Ultimate X-Men. Characters age and the way they interact echo other versions, but are still radically different in many ways (such as Nightcrawler having a crush on Shadowcat, or Wolverine being teacher to the likes of Cyclops). The interpretation of some characters owes more to the recent live action movies than to the original comics (such as the powers the new Toad has). This newest incarnation first aired on November 4th, 2000, and is currently into its fourth season.

So which mainstream Marvel characters have counterparts in this reality?

Lead characters: Cyclops; Professor X; Storm; Wolverine; Nightcrawler; Jean Grey; Shadowcat; Rogue; The Beast; Angel

Fellow heroes: Forge (much younger and lacking the bionics); Havok; New Mutants (Wolfsbane, Sunspot, Multiple [this reality's counterpart to Multiple Man], Iceman, Cannonball, Boom-Boom, Jubilee, Magma, Berserker [not a Morlock in this reality]); Captain America (seen only in the past, still believed dead); Scarlet Witch; Gambit; Colossus; Nick Fury; Danielle Moonstar (not using any alias yet); Agatha Harkness, Leech, Amanda Sefton

Villains: Mystique; Sabretooth (closer to the movie look than the comics version); Magneto; Destiny; Blob (much younger in this universe); Quicksilver; Juggernaut; Principal Edward Kelly (not Senator as in the comics, or President as in the previous cartoon); Mesmero; Agatha Harkness (villainous in this world); Sentinels; Mastermind; Pyro; Callisto; Omega Red; Apocalypse; Morlocks (Cybelle, Caliban, Callisto, Scaleface), Bolivar Trask; Viper, Arcade (very different in this incarnation), Legion, Rama Tut
