History:

Comments: Created by Ron Turner.

Winner! shared the cover with the two other new strips introduced in #22 (22nd August 1980), and despite its short 10 episode run, the series also managed to claim solo cover slots in the 24th issue (6th September 1980) and 28th issue (4th October 1980).

Speed's cancellation caused Winner! to end on a somewhat ambiguous note, and though the strip didn't officially carry over into the new comic, a way was found to continue Trevor Watson's tale to a proper conclusion without pushing out another pre-existing Tiger strip. Tiger's File of Fame's conceit was that it featured tales recounted by a newspaper sports editor, so beginning with the merger issue, 1st November 1980, said editor regaled the readers with how Watson gradually over came his injury to eventually become the British Grand Prix champion eleven issues later in Tiger's 10th January 1981 issue.
