History: As mankind prepared to evacuate the Earth to escape it's polluted death, one of their ships is destroyed by the forces of the Waldstars, a hostile alien species. Doctor Amachi, who had been the scientist in charge of the evacuation, turned his genius to creating a defence against the extra-terrestrials' technologically superior weaponry. He designed a giant robot, Pegas, capable of transforming a human host into a cybernetic warrior, the Tekkaman. However, people capable of surviving the process were rare, and things looked hopeless until Minami Johji proved to be capable of enduring the transformation. Alongside Andro, a friendly alien from Sanno, and the Doctor's daughter Hiromi, the Tekkaman was mankind's last hope for survival.

Johji unmasked.Comments: Created by Kenji Yoshida and Ippei Kuri. He was voiced by Katsuji Mori. The story was planned to run for 52 half-hour episodes, but poor ratings saw it cut down to 26 episodes. It was released in America in the mid-1980s by William Winckler Productions.

There have been two sequels/re-makes, Uchu no Kishi Tekkaman Blade (1992) and Uchu no Kishi Tekkaman Blade II (1997), featuring new Tekkaman.
