History: American soldier John Peter Macallister served in the Korean conflict. After the war he decided to settle in Japan, where he came to study ninkitsu, eventually becoming one of the very few Westerners to be inducted into a Ninja clan. He served the clan for thirty years, but then discovered he had a daughter. He expressed his desire to leave the clan to find her, but was told the only way out was death. He took this warning to heart - and killed most of the clan before leaving to search for his off-spring. The survivors marked him for death, and his student Okasa pursued him, swearing to kill him.

Macallister made it to the US, where he encountered drifter Max Keller, who offered to aid him in his search. In return Macallister is is training Keller in the ways of ninjitsu.
