History: Kodachi is the sixteen year old sister of Furikan High's Tatekawi Kunou. The Martial Arts Rhythmic Gymnastics expert at her own school, St.Heberiki Girls' Academy, she is as full of herself and her abilities as her brother is of his. She had never been beaten in combat or gymnastics (which to her are the same thing), partly due to her own great skill, partly due to her using every dirty trick in the book to eliminate the opposition before the match even began. Her favourite trick involved gifting her opponent with a bouquet of her trademark black roses hiding an exploding batch of sleep or paralysis powder.

Learning that Akane Tendou was to face her in an upcoming competition, Kodachi attempted to deal with her in the usual way. Her attack was thwarted however, and then Kodachi, who was hiding on the roof of the Tendou Dojo after delivering the flowers, was accidentally knocked off the roof by Ranma Saotome, who was up there chasing a small pig (don't ask). Luckily for Kodachi, he also caught her before she could be injured. Kodachi, the product of an all-girls school, immediately became enamoured with her saviour. Kodachi learned that Akane was Ranma's fiancee, which only increased her dislike of her rival. However, before their gymnastics match, Akane managed to injure herself. Ranma's female form became Akane's replacement in the match, enraging Kodachi that some pig-tailed girl had the affront to have the same name as her new beloved. Losing a match to Ranma, the first time she had ever been in that position, only served to cement Kodachi's hatred of her.
