Powers/Abilities: Fleur de Lys is an expert in TaeKwon Doe, having been national Canadian champion at the sport on one occasion. She is very agile and capable of impressive gymnastic feats. PACT outfitted her with a bladed weapon shaped like a fleur-de-lys. Although it is sharp enough to easily slice through flesh, Manon has no intention of using it in that manner. Instead she employs the charged battery in the device which can build up and deliver a debilitating electric shock, like a taser, along with a bright flash of light. The gadget also has a built in line, allowing it to be used as a grappling hook.

History: After being easily overpowered by a less powerful but better trained opponent, Phillip Wise, a.k.a. Northguard, went wandering through the streets of Montreal, seeking to gather his thoughts. Noticing a Tae Kwon Do dojo, he entertained the notion of improving his fighting skills by learning that fighting art, and so entered in search of the proprietor. Instead he encountered Manon Deschamps, a former national champion of the art. Finding her easy to talk to, and feeling the need to discuss his problems, Phillip confided in Manon. She immediately decided to help him, especially given the nature of the threat to Canada that he described. Her decision was swiftly catalysed when foreign agents attacked Phillip, attempting to steal the Uni-Band device which gave him his superhuman powers. Together Phillip and Manon fought them off long enough for PACT to send in the cavalry. Afterwards Phillip agreed to go back to work for them only if Manon was also included in the deal, to train him in martial arts.

In response to Phillip's costumed identity, Manon created one of her own, becoming Fleur de Lys. Only shortly after this she was present when ManDes invaded PACT's headquarters. She managed to remain free almost to the end of the occupation, saving the lives of some of the company's employees before she was finally captured. When Northguard managed to break loose, she and Steel Chameleon worked with each other to deal with the ManDes forces he had missed.

Northguard remains one of the best comics to come out of Canada, with realistic and rounded characters. This was reflected by the series being publically recognised in 1995, when Canada Post did a series of commemorative superhero stamps - the series was the only comic to have two of it's characters represented. Fleur de Lys appeared on a stamp (left) while Northguard turned up on the First Day Cover.
