Captain America: The 1944 Republic Serial
The 1944 Republic serial of Captain America was based on the comic version in name only. Captain America in this version is Grant Gardner, a District Attorney, rather than Steve Rogers, soldier. He is, however, the first Marvel (or rather, at the time, Timely) superhero to make it on to the screens. Dick Purcell played the title role.
